(Biodynamic) A big wine with lovely acidity and a characteristic touch of nuts (almonds?) on the palate. Long and honeyed finish, slight salty tang, aged 20 months in old oak after vinification in stainless steel. A fine example of a rather variable grape.

(Biodynamic & Low Sulphur) As expected, very pale red, cherry and raspberry nose, very young and fresh, a pure expression of PN fruit, tannins very low but held together by good minerality and acidity. A light summery wine.

Mirasoles Monastrell, Bodegas Parra Jimenez 2021 DO Jumilla, Spain

(Biodynamic) From sunny dry La Mancha, aka Mourvedre, violet colour, rich, smoky and juicy on the palate, savoury on the finish. Easily oxidized but this wine good and fresh, very toothsome and good value.

IGP Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascallese Luna Gaia 2018, Sicily, Italy

(Biodynamic) An indigenous grape grown around Mt. Etna, tasted rather like a Zinfandel/Pinot Noir cross, initially a touch sweet on the palate with good tannins, rich from some old oak ageing, black cherries on nose and palate, expected volcanic minerality, a big wine despite 12.5% alcohol. Good value.

IGT Maremma Toscana Estatatura, Barone Pizzini 2018 Tuscany, Italy

Sangiovese with a splash of Carignan, 15 months in oak, very rich nose, hints of tobacco, loads of mouthfill and very long on the palate, a classic Tuscan full of deep fruit and sunshine.
