We were treated to a wide range of wine, from a stunning Sparkling wine, through the expected dry and off-dry whites, to a couple of reds and a lovely sweet wine to end the evening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Oliver Zeter &#8216;Zero&#8217; Grande Cuvee, Pfalz. 2010<\/strong>. A vintage sparkling wine, made in very small quantities. 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay. A mammoth 52 months in bottle before degorging, gives the brioche nose and flavour. No sugar after degorging (would be labelled Extra Brut if champagne). A lovely wine, hard to believe it\u2019s from Germany and not a champagne!\u00a0 \u00a326 on offer, usually \u00a332.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Walt Riesling, Pfalz, 2017. <\/strong>From a small producer this is his entry-level Riesling, off dry but limey and fruity, and very easy to drink the odd bucket. Young vines. 11.5%. \u00a39.99<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Markus Molitor Haus Klosterberg QBA 2017<\/strong>. A mit-Mosel producer, and a much classier wine than previous, more complex flavours, orange on palate; quite rich. Again off dry, and 10.5%. \u00a315.99<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Oliver Zeter Nussriegel Riesling Trocken, Pfalz 2017<\/strong>. Older vines (planted 1986), wine is fermented in old oak which allows oxygen in but doesn\u2019t add a lot of oak flavour. \u00a0\u00a316.99<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Oliver Zeter Sauvignon Blanc Fume 2017<\/strong>. \u00a0A Sauvignon Blanc, which is a relatively rare grape for Germany. Even so, this is made from 7 different areas of SB. Fermented in oak and spent a long time on the lees. Somewhat herbal, lovely deep richness. \u00a322<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Oliver Zeter Spatburgunder 2016.<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a015 year-old vines in sand. Pinot Noir but a variety with loose bunches, easier to ripen in a cool climate. The bunches are also de-stemmed to reduce \u2018green\u2019, unripe flavours. Impressive nose. 13%. \u00a316.99.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Oliver Zeter Zahir 2014<\/strong> A wildly unusual style for Germany- the Bordeaux grapes, Cab Sauv (25%), Merlot (30%), Cabernet Franc (45%), deep rich red and dark fruit flavours. Quite a mouthful and you would really not guess Germany here. \u00a345<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Oliver Zeter Goldschatz 375ml<\/strong>. A mix of grapes and vintages from1993 onwards.
