A great introduction to quality English still wine, Flint Dry is a blend of predominantly Chardonnay, Bacchus, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. This highly aromatic white wine has intense aromas of green apple, galia melon and kiwi together with crisp acidity and a long, refreshing finish.<\/p>\n
From my own vineyard in West Wellow near Romsey where I grow Bacchus and Reichensteiner varietals on a 1 acre plot that was planted 34 years ago. The 2018 harvest was one of the best for years \u2013 I have had very little since due to spring frost and wet Augusts! The old vines are undergoing trunk replacement to extend their life as the ravages of time and constant pruning are taking their toll. The firm acidity in English wine allows for a long and graceful old age, softening and sweetening with time.<\/p>\n
Bacchus is one of the best-known grapes in English still winemaking, and the Wiltshire climate is perfect for bringing the best out of this variety

From Guillaume Lagger in Sway this is a full bodied white wine from a 228L barrel of Pinot Gris aged for 13 months on fine lees. This unique barrel brings a nose of ripe fruit, nuts, roasting and a hint of vanilla. On the palate it delivers a rich, creamy palette of fruit flavours and sweetness. Delicious drinking on the night, could almost have been from Alsace!Grapes sourced from Sussex.<\/p>\n
Dornfelder, with small parcels of Pinot Noir. A light and fruity red wine, with stone-fruit aromas of damson and cherry, supported by a hint of vanilla from a French oak barrel. From Ian Clarke\u2019s Bramshaw winery, just one hogshead barrle made.<\/p>\n
This beautiful red takes its name from a Wiltshire landmark – the narrow lane across the Lacock ford gently rises up towards Nethercote Hill, where timber and stone cottages sit among full gardens of wisteria, hollyhocks and foxgloves.

The 2018 Pinot Noir was harvested in the first week of October. The 7 tonnes of fruit was destemmed and left to steep to extract the colour from the skins. After 7 days the grapes were pressed and fermented then into French oak for about 5 months to help add to the wine but not dominate it. A cherry coloured wine, the colour and translucent nature are similar to German Pinot Noirs. With plenty of cherry and red fruit on the nose, the wine accompanies roast lamb perfectly. Some of our customers like to drink it chilled in summer. This wine has been written about by Jancis Robinson and at the Decanter World Wine Awards in 2020 it received 89\/100 and a medal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
